The Boyue Palace stands out for its unique properties. The designer's pursuit was to create a global cosmopolitan hub that merges social interaction, leisure, ecology, and arts. The design uses natural ecology to activate young, dynamic, and diverse living scenes, conveying pure natural aesthetics. This approach not only provides individuals with a rich immersive experience but also greatly enhances the commercial value of the space.
The design realization technology used in the project includes metal, stone, leather, and wood finish. The project area spans 648 square meters. The design interaction is particularly noteworthy, with thin-necked orange and green chandeliers mimicking the upside-down roots and vines of the banyan trees seen on Shenzhen's roadsides. The conventional spatial wall has been replaced with a huge mossy landscape wall, evoking the endless vitality of natural growth. The space is further enhanced with elegant cotton and linen carpets, curved furniture, art wall paintings, and lush vegetation, all embodying a free lifestyle and providing a calming vibe.
The project, completed in May 2022, is located in Shenzhen Expo Bay, also known as the World Exhibition Capital and the Bay Area Economic Giant. The Boyue Palace, situated here, benefits from the ecological environment and urban vitality brought about by its humanistic geographical location. The design research underlying this project focused on the unique characteristics of Shenzhen Expo Bay.
One of the design challenges was to visually respond to the forms of nature, presenting cascading forms in accordance with nature. The iterations of the mountains are restored by the stone installation, which returns to the simplicity of nature. With wood geometry interspersed, the transitional space is full of interest under the linkage of nature and art, thus achieving the harmony and symbiosis between natural ecology and urban development.
In conclusion, Kelly Lin's design for the Boyue Palace is a remarkable example of how natural ecology can be integrated into urban development. The project not only provides a rich immersive experience for individuals but also greatly enhances the commercial value of the space. The design's success is evident in its receipt of the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2023, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
